Hello Fit and Fabulous Floridians! Let’s talk about your passions, exercise, and well-being!
In Florida, we have access to so many fun activities in which we can participate and be active. Being active while pursuing your passions can offer numerous benefits, both physically and mentally. Regular physical activity can boost your energy levels and enhance your mood, which can make engaging in your passions more enjoyable and fulfilling.
Being physically active can also improve your cognitive function, including memory and thinking skills, which can be beneficial in all areas of life, including your passion pursuits.
Physically, exercise can improve your heart health, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and enhance your overall well-being. It can also strengthen your muscles and bones, improve flexibility, and increase endurance. For example, if your passion is fishing or sailing, you need endurance and strength for these types of activities, and they are much more enjoyable if you are able to execute them without “sputtering out.”
Your passion doesn’t have to be exercise but exercising so you can enjoy your passion is instrumental. When you have active passions, it makes the physical side more enjoyable. Not everyone loves going to a gym and working out, and that is in no way the only way to exercise. Active passions that are physical, such as fishing, pickleball, sailing, tennis, running and more, make being physically active fun. People who participate in active passions have been shown to have improved mental health, a more positive attitude, and deal much better in stressful situations.
Speaking of mental health, being active can help reduce feelings of depression, anxiety, and stress and aid in better sleep. All of these things contribute to better mental health. When we participate in activities we are passionate about, it boosts our morale and brings feelings of satisfaction and accomplishment.
Combining physical activity with your passions can lead to a more balanced lifestyle, helping you achieve a better work-life balance and improve your overall quality of life. As you ponder what you enjoy, take time to be active. Whether being active in your passions or being active so you can enjoy your passions, take time for physical activity. Do what you love, love what you do, and keep your body healthy and active so you can keep doing it!
